A big congratulations to Madison Oliver, winner of the Pacesetter Gallery Prize given at the 2022 CHEC Art Show! The yearly art show was held in Madison, MS at Broadmoor Baptist Church on April 7, 2022.  The art show included work from the local homeschooling community of around 450 Mississippi families that are members of CHEC. The judged show had many entries in sculpture, watercolor, drawing, photography, painting, and digital art by students from Kinder through High School.

Before the art show began, a panel was held from 5 p.m.-6 p.m. focusing on careers in the arts. The panel included many artists and art career fields, such as Kristen Leigh from the Mississippi Arts Commission and Nate Theisen, professor at Belhaven University, Jackson muralist artist Eli Childers and Keri Davis the owner of Pacesetter Gallery and more.  The students had a chance to talk one-on-one with the panel. "I really enjoyed meeting these young artists and answering questions about what it takes to grow in your art skills. They asked very thoughtful questions and we had some in-depth discussions about art.", states gallery owner, Keri Davis.

The Pacesetter Prize is awarded to one artwork at the show and gives the artist the opportunity to display the work in the Pacesetter Gallery for one month and experience the gallery submission and display process. The winning piece this year was selected for the advanced painting techniques used, strong overall composition and effective color scheme present in the piece. Madison's artwork will be on display at Pacesetter Gallery from April 11 through May 11th.

The gallery is open from 9-6pm Monday-Wednesday and Thursday-Saturday 9-9pm so stop by and see this amazing portrait created by Madison Oliver!
