James Delong

James DeLong is a metal artist and fabricator who lives in Brandon, Mississippi. His journey in metalwork began in 2008 while he was still in high school. In 2013, James moved to New Orleans which inspired him to become an artist. James draws inspiration from architecture, specifically in the gargoyles found in Gothic architecture. His macabre art style is what captures the attention of others. The quote from Pablo Picasso, “Art is chaos taking shape.”, is what inspired him to start using art as a coping mechanism. It inspires him to find beauty in the things that others may find dark and disturbing. His work includes sculptures often figurative, abstract, minimalist, and mixed media pieces. His goal is to bring light to the dark and show that there is beauty in scarring and misfortune.
